2009 International Student Orientation by Division of International Affairs
An international student orientation was held on September 17th in Da Yeh University. The international student orientation was for students who newly come into Da Yeh University to give them an introduction to the faculties and environment of the university. More than 30 students, teachers and staffs attended the orientation. The whole school really cares about international students. In the beginning of the orientation, Dr. Wai-Jane Ho, the President of Da Yeh University, delivered an address to all attendants. President Ho mentioned that it is a challenge for international students that they need to leave their hometowns for diploma in overseas schools. She also encouraged students to try their best to learn. Moreover, President Ho hoped that the international students could seize the chance of staying in Taiwan to enjoy this beautiful island and nice special customs here. Next, the teachers and students from honor program welcomed the international students to Da Yeh University and introduced themselves. Dr. Wei-Chi Wang, the director of international affairs division also introduced the environments and facilities of the university to the international students. All attendants soon made friends and shared their lives with each other. These students chatted about their hometown and learning experiences. After the orientation, we setup a reception and prepared tea and delicious desserts for all attendants. Everyone enjoyed the desserts and chatting.
Later on we interviewed some international students. They feel the orientation was quite helpful. Also, they think Da Yeh University is a good place to study. They feel really touched that Da Yeh University provided them a warm welcome.
大葉大學於九月17日下午兩點半，在行政大樓五樓會議室舉行98學年度國際學生新生訓練。舉行這次的新生訓練之目的在於，希望新生能對大葉大學能有更進一步的認識。現場超過30位學生、教師及職員參與這次的活動。新生訓練一開始，我們請到大葉大學校長何偉真校長為大家致詞。何校長提到，對外籍學生而言，離鄉背井到異地唸書是一件不容易的事，她期許及勉勵同學，好好地珍惜在這裡的讀書機會。除此之外，更可以把握在台灣的時光，認識台灣的人、事、物，欣賞台灣的美麗風光，感受一下台灣的人情味。接下來由教師及菁英學程的同學介紹，誠摯地歡迎外籍生來到大葉大學。國際交流組王維麒組長亦介紹大葉大學的相關資訊，包括校園環境及各項設施等。很快的大家打成一片，分享著不同的生活體驗，外籍生也很樂意地跟每位學生做朋友，交換彼此的學習經驗及家鄉背景。活動結束後，校方準備了紅茶及各式點心讓現場所有參與人員享用。邊吃邊聊，大家談論地非常熱烈，為新生訓練畫下完美的句點。
結束之後我們訪問了幾位外籍新生，他們都表示，這個活動對於了解大葉大學非常有幫助，覺得大葉大學是一個學習的好地方。他們同時表達，感受到大葉大學對外籍學生的用心及照顧。
