Chinese Level One Teacher

This is my first time writing a tour proposal to DYU. It’s also my first time to take my students to go for a cultural tour. I looked like a tour guide during the two days trip. From this trip, I learned a lot, such as, making a reservation in Labor’s hotel, booking for breakfast, asking for some receipt, preparing phone books, writing down all the details, asking about insurance, asking for a museum guide and planning the trips. In order not to make a big mistake, I made a lot of phone calls before visiting these places and visited some traveling website. During the two days trip, I would like to give my highly appreciation to City Kaohsiung government for their well-organized traveling website and many beautiful designed construction in Kaohsiung. Compared with Taipei, I think Kaohsiung MRT is as convenient and well planned as Taipei. Kaohsiung MRT station combines with many beautiful visiting places and delicious food. I am a person who likes to travel a lot. After Kaohsiung trip, I am so proud of Kaohsiung, because it is as good as many places in Europe or Canada.
During the two days trip, we experienced the history of Qi-hou gun placement, Dragon and Tiger Tower, Confucius Temple and the origin of Love River. Being a Chinese teacher, I always hope I can give my students a situational learning so that they can experience it, interact and have more feelings. I would like to give my highly thankfulness to DYU for their support and help. Because of their support, Taiwanese students in DYU have more chances to visit or study in a foreign country and foreign students have more chances to learn culture, language and humanity of Taiwan. It is a good experience for me to travel around Kaohsiung with fourteen lovely students.

　　 Qijin Ferry Station: we were very excited about this beautiful building. After we arrived there, it was one p.m. Everyone seemed very hungry and tired.

Qi-Hou gun placement: In Qing Dynasty, Qi-Hou gun placement was built to avoid the attack from Japanese pirate or Japanese navy.

This is the famous national site “威震天南”.

Love River is always beautiful in the night. The reason why it is called Love River is a beautiful mistake. Some lovers jumped into another river but the news reporter mistakenly thought it was this river. Since that, Love River became very well- known. When we walked near along the riverbank, we felt romantic. Love River is also called “ Seine of the East” because of its beauty. While we walked around Love River, there were some people selling traditional Chinese tool and someone writing calligraphy. It was really impressive to us that the beautiful modern view of Love River mingle with traditional culture.

This is one of the beautiful MRT station in Kaohsiung. The station is Formosa Boulevard. Students stayed for while and took a lot of pictures here.

Confucius Temple: After long walking, we were very very tired. We rested in Confucius temple and had fun here.

In this tour, we learned modern culture about Taiwan and also experienced traditional Taiwanese or Hakkanese culture. In this tour, the foreign students also experienced that Taiwan is like a culture melting pot. People in Taiwan are always warm hearted and welcome to foreign students. We hope that our school can provide more chances for foreign students to join a tour like this.
